Shihan Gus Arguello,  was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1981. He began training Bujinkan at the Gokui Dojō in 2000 with Shihan Antonio Rodríguez (www.nybujin.com) and later with Shihan Rafael Franco at the Kiryu Dojō (www.kiryudojo.com).

He travelled to the Honbu Dojō (central Dojō) in Noda-shi, Chiba, Japan for the first time in the spring of 2007, a trip that he describes as a unique experience: … ¨it is a once in a life time opportunity to see and to learn first-hand from Hatsumi Sensei and the Japanese Shihan and to have the chance of meeting and sharing with so many excellent budoka (martial arts practitioner) from around the world¨ …

During the Daikomyosai

Of 2010, he set the Sakki Test at the Budōkan in Ayase, Chiba, Japan and received the 5th Dan, …¨beyond the feeling of actually believing that the ceiling of the Budōkan was falling down on my head, the sakki test is a precious gift in which your human consciousness is connected to your spirituality in an instant of time that is broken by a divine connection¨…

When visiting Japan in 2016,  Gus received several recommendations from different Jugo Dan (15th Dan) in order to get promoted to 10th Dan, …¨when you practice this martial art, you realise Hatsumi Sensei, the Japanese Shihan, your instructors and buyu are in sync with the way they practice, teach and particularly the way they live. This is a great honour and responsibility for myself, the Dojō and the students that week after week keep coming searching for Hatsumi Sensei’s teachings and Budō¨…

During 2019 Gus received the 15 th Dan of the Bujinkan, the highest Rank for a Bujinkan practitioner.

He regularly continues travelling to the Honbu Dojō from his current location in Perth, Western Australia in order to keep training and learning from the Japanese Shihan and Hatsumi Sensei, aiming to spread his teachings and the Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu.
